MAGIC CURSE (Taiwan/South Korea/Philippines, 1975)

Philippines based playboy, Man-Ying (future Shaw Brothers star Jason Pai Piao), learns that his uncle, flying back from Borneo with a large cache of gems, has crashed in the wild jungle and is now missing believed dead. Man-Ying flies off to Borneo, hires a crew of local guides and sets off to find him.

His first encounter is an attack from a gang of leprous zombies. His terrified guides flee, leaving Man-Ying to defend himself. He kills one of the zombies, who then morphs back into human form and thanks him for freeing him from the Black Magic curse cast on him by a wizard named Abdulla, leader of a powerful and dangerous snake cult.

Man-Ying discovers that Abdulla was responsible for stealing his uncle’s gems. His attempt to retrieve them fails. Pursued by the cultists, Man-Ying is rescued by Filona the goddess of the snake cult. She nurses him back to health and before he leaves for Manila makes him promise to come back for her. To ensure his faithfulness she bites his lip, casting a spell on him, ensuring that any woman he has sex with will die horribly.

Back in Manila, Man-Ying soon settles back into his old life of partying in cheesy nightclubs and having sex with random women - all of whom perish horribly due to Filona’s curse. After the second death the police get suspicious, and Man-Ying says they must return to the jungle where Filona will free him from the curse. But Abdulla is waiting...

This wild mix of horror, jungle adventure, martial arts and sex has long been unavailable, and this is its first Blu-ray release in a version restored from the original negative.
